For the use of HCS03 converters in regenerative operation, brake resistors with a particularly compact design are available for selection for different power consumptions. The brake resistor is mounted directly above the converter. The space-saving arrangement simplifies the installation. At the same time, flow of exhaust air from the converter provides effective cooling. The robust design of the resistor elements allows an extreme pulse load with high dielectric strength. The resistor elements used are non-flammable and fully enclosed to protect against harmful environmental influences.



The use of a reinforced brake resistor is always required if high regenerative power occurs over a longer period. This is the case, for example, when lowering large loads or when braking from high inertial mass. Depending on the required braking performance for each converter, compact brake resistors are available in varying levels of performance and design.
